Ash goes traditional at Cannes

We spotted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the amfAR gala dinner in a traditional yet chic outfit putting to rest speculations about what she would wear on the red carpet.



Aishwarya wore a traditional dress to Cannes - and she looked good.

As every year, she will attend the gala as the brand ambassador of an international cosmetic line she endorses. She will be accompanied by her mother Brinda Rai and will reportedly fly down with her five- month- old daughter Aaradhya, although hubby Abhishek Bachchan will not accompany her this time.



Incidentally, Ash will be representing the cosmetic brand along with two other Indian faces, Freida Pinto and Sonam Kapoor. This will be Freida’s second appearance at Cannes. However, Freida will attend the festival alone because boyfriend- actor Dev Patel is busy promoting his new film, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel .



Although Ash hasn’t zeroed in on what she will wear on the Cannes red carpet, sources said she might choose an ethnic outfit by Indian designer.

Nagma: Then and now

Her life had been a turbulent roller coaster ride rocked by affairs and scandals. From movies to business and politics, she tried her hands on almost everything under sun. The actress was recently spotted at an event, where she looked like a shadow of her past image.

The actress, who maintains a low-key profile these days, was spotted at the RK Excellence Awards in Mumbai.

Born to a Muslim mother and Hindu father on a Christmas day, Nandita Morarji aka Nagma went on becoming a highly successful star who ruled the South Indian cinema in the 90s. Though she debuted in Bollywood, it was in South she earned a big name.

At the height of her career, she suffered a major setback following her link up with ace cricketer Sourav Ganguly, a decade ago. It was one of the hottest affairs to have hit the headlines back then. Since he was married during that time, the 'other woman' image ruined Nagma's reputation. Sourav, who was married to wife Dona, maintained a silence about the whole thing. Nagma said they broke up because they didn't want to hurt his career.

Following the controverises, she went to oblivion for a while. She stopped signing for South industry, and tried her luck in Bhojpuri flicks. Her name was then linked to Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishen.

Nagma and Ravi Kishan have worked together in 13 Bhojpuri films. That affair also didn't last long as Ravi Kishan got back to his family. She later took resort in spiritual life, and kept herself busy with Art of Living programme.

Nagma tried her hand in business by launching a boutique, Nagma's, in Bandra, Mumbai. Though it was an instant hit, she was compelled to close it down as she had to take care of her ailing father.
